Getting started as a player
What to set up first on ScoutEvo to start getting discovered by scouts and coaches.
ScoutEvo connects players directly with scouts, coaches, and advisors. The better your profile, the more likely you are to appear in searches and get noticed. Here's what to set up first.
Step 1 — Complete your profile
A complete profile is the single biggest factor in getting discovered. Go to Profile → Edit Profile and fill in:
- Profile photo — a clear headshot or action shot
- Position & stats — current level, league, team, position, and shooting hand
- Season stats — add stats for each season you've played
- Team history — every team you've played for
- Highlight videos — link your YouTube or Vimeo highlights
- Bio — a short paragraph about yourself, your game, and your goals
Tip
Profiles with highlight videos get significantly more views from scouts. Even a short 2-3 minute clip is better than none.
Step 2 — Get verified
Verified profiles show a blue checkmark and appear higher in search results. Submit a verification request from your profile page. See the Verification article for details.
Step 3 — Set your message permissions
Go to Settings → Privacy to control who can message you. Options are: Everyone, Connections only, or Nobody. We recommend Everyone or Connections only so scouts can reach you.
Step 4 — Connect and follow
Connect with teammates, coaches, and players you know. Follow scouts and coaches whose programs interest you — this puts your activity in their feed.
Step 5 — Express interest in programs
Go to Recruiting to manage the programs you're targeting. On any staff profile or organization page, use Express Interest (Pro) to send a personalized inquiry directly to that program. Track the status of your outreach — pending, accepted, or declined — from your Recruiting page.
